Rostov region is one of most densely populated regions in Russia. The majority of population are the Russians, a part of them consider themselves the Don Cossacks. The negative population growth for the last two years is not compensated by migration.

In general, representatives of nearly 100 nations live in the region. The mutual respect of people of different nations, traditional cultural and economic relationships have always been cherished and appreciated on the Don land.
The able to work population consist 70% of the total number. The education level of economically active population is rather high. That is, among 1000 people 300 have basic special education, 400 – basic general education, 87 - incomplete basic education, 190 – higher education, 12 – incomplete higher education.
